The Company

A leading integrated global chemical and energy company, proudly rooted in our South African heritage, delivering superior value to our stakeholders.

With their purpose being: To create superior value for our customers, shareholders and other stakeholders. Through our talented people, we use selected technologies enabling the client to safely and sustainably source, produce and market chemical and energy products competitively.

The Business Challenge

Taking into account the client’s existing data architecture and landscape, the challenge, particularly for the enormous tables such as Accounting Document Header (BKPF average 30Mil records per table per system) & Accounting Document Segment (BSEG average 30Mil to 60Mil records a table per system), was

  • To consolidate data from 15 SAP ECC ERP instances for the various operating entities. This would enable reporting from a single source of information/truth
  • To investigate the possible data flow options with the assumption that the data used in the Minimal Viable Products (MVPs) has been reconciled and validated for completeness and accuracy. The logical assumption was that the data objects for the various options were to be created once, and then maintained going forward i.e. the level of effort required to create the various data objects will only be carried out once

The Solution

Implement integrated finance solution resulting in becoming an insight-driven organization. To drive superior stakeholder value, the client’s Finance division must own and lead the solution. The solution will be a key element in the Finance team’s journey towards a globally integrated finance operating model and system.

The Value Proposition

Use existing DO’s in the data warehouse, such as Accounting Document Header (BKPF) & Accounting Document Segment (BSEG) which are the appended view of all SAP systems. These DO’s are joined to create a single over arching business view where a filter criteria is applied to supplement requirements from an MVP perspective.
